To Whom It May Concern is a portrait series exploring community by weaving through the social fabric to get to know individuals in Singapore on a more personal level.
Each individual answers a question asked by the previous person, then poses a question to any person of their choice. The next person is then sought out from the public. The cycle of answering the question and posing the next question to someone repeats itself, and viewers are brought on a journey to get to know some of the many diverse personalities in Singapore.
The first question starts with “how are you?” to deliberately set a personal tone right from the beginning.
The series highlights the different joys, worries and challenges that different parts of Singapore’s society experience. It also aims to provoke thought and self-reflection for the viewer as they read the questions and responses of other individuals in Singapore.
All responses were recorded in handwriting, and all portraits were taken and posted with permission.
